Prescription Limits

Effective January 1, 2009, adult beneficiaries can potentially receive up to a total of 10 prescriptions in the Medicaid fee for service program. Adult SC Medicaid beneficiaries are allowed 4 standard prescriptions per month (unless enrolled in a qualifying waiver program which allows additional prescriptions). Once the initial 4 prescriptions have been reached for adults beneficiaries, they may receive up to 6 additional prescriptions if certain criteria are met.

Note: Children from birth to the date of their 21st birthday are eligible for an unlimited number of Medicaid-covered prescriptions per month.
